Cats Have 32 Muscles In Each Ear
Your cat can rotate its ears 180° to hear a mouse — with 32 muscles per ear.

Cats have 32 muscles in each ear — humans have 6. Those muscles let them rotate ears 180 degrees independently, like satellite dishes. They can hear ultrasonic frequencies up to 64kHz (humans 20kHz) and pinpoint a mouse rustle in 0.06 seconds. The ear muscles are so precise they work like a built-in amplifier. That's why a cat can nap and still twitch an ear toward you opening a tin 2 rooms away.
