The mantis shrimp sees a rainbow you cannot imagine. Humans have three colour receptors, mantis shrimp have 16. They detect ultraviolet, infrared, and polarized light. But they do not blend colours like us, they recognise them as distinct channels, like having 16 labelled buckets. This lets them spot transparent prey in coral instantly. Their punch is equally extreme, accelerating faster than a .22 calibre bullet, boiling water on impact. Eyes that see hidden light and clubs that create light. Evolution turned a 10cm shrimp into a super-sensor.
