The Universe Has a Cold Spot That Shouldn't Exist

When scientists mapped the leftover heat from the Big Bang, called the Cosmic Microwave Background, they found an area much colder than it should be. This Cold Spot is 0.00015C colder than the surrounding space and spans 1.8 billion light-years. Our standard model of cosmology says a hole this big should be almost impossible. One explanation is a supervoid — a region with 10,000 fewer galaxies than normal. A more radical idea is that it is a bruise caused by a collision with another universe very early in time. No explanation is proven.
