On 15 Dec 1900, the steamer Archtor noted Flannan Isles lighthouse was dark. The relief boat found the door unlocked, beds unmade, clock stopped, oilskins missing. The log reported a severe storm that never occurred on nearby islands. The three men — Ducat, Marshall, McArthur — vanished. No bodies found. Theories range from freak wave to abduction. The island remains uninhabited.
