Denmark Strait has a waterfall 3,500 meters tall, three times the height of Angel Falls, hidden underwater. Cold, dense water from the Nordic Seas spills over the Greenland-Scotland ridge and plunges into the warmer Irminger Sea below. It moves over 5 million cubic meters per second, 100 times the Amazon's flow. You cannot see it, but sonar and temperature maps show it clearly. It is a key engine of global ocean circulation, driving the conveyor belt that keeps Europe warm, now slowing due to climate change.
